Working in construction is never boring. I enjoy the variety and constant change. Everyday is a new day and not repetitive. You can make a decent living in construction careers.

I started my career in construction because my family has been in construction – my father also worked for Carleton. Prior to working for Carleton, I worked on the subcontractor side in multifamily. What I enjoy about my job is the super-fast pace and all of the people I work with every day. I also enjoy building people’s homes and whether it’s market rate or affordable, it feels great to do my part to help people in need of housing.

I enjoy turning a blank field, a blank canvas, into a place where people can live their lives and make memories; to have a place to call home. I also enjoy the relationships that are built throughout the project. Construction is a small world and you see familiar faces all the time throughout the years. Building those relationships and bonds is a very satisfying aspect of this field.

Neal and Printice, as well as the rest of the leadership team, have a “hands off” style. They give the opportunity for me to work independently with my team and then go to them when I need their assistance. They are always available when I need their help and I get the support I need to do my job. It’s as good as it gets at Carleton!

I was hired straight out of college with little experience in construction and multifamily. As soon as I got hired, Neal, right off the bat, took me under his wing and really coached me and taught me everything I need to know in order to prepare me for the field. As soon as I was able to go out to the field and start my project, I was equipped with all the knowledge and proper expertise in order to do my job properly. Printice is very hands on. I would see him walking through the office checking up and making sure everyone is doing all right. Really nice guy, I can’t say enough about that.

I’ve been fortunate enough to work alongside Printice & Neal for several years now. They are exceptional people down to their very core. They care deeply about their team members & go out of their way to ensure everyone is taken care of. We at Carleton are lucky to have such great Principals who encourage & challenge us to always continue growing and advancing our skill sets.
